| Description |
English: The Grosvenor Road, Belfast. The Grosvenor Road runs from Gt Victoria Street/Fisherwick Place, across Durham Street to the Westlink 1077095 and on to the Springfield Road. The area was redeveloped towards the end of the 19th century. Before then the street west of Durham Street was called Grosvenor Street. The part, between Durham Street and Gt Victoria Street/Fisherwick Place was called College Street South. The demolition needed to make way for the Westlink saw the disappearance of familiar features notably the old railway goods yard and Grosvenor Park (Distillery FC). The view is towards Gt Victoria Street/Fisherwick Place. (Note: in the Belfast vernacular the pronunciation is often "Governor"). |
