| Description |
English: The Giddy Bridge, London Road. Wetherspoon's pub in central Southampton which hosted the off-conference programme (see 1713378) for the first Geograph conference. The pub's own information states that it "stands in what was once a field known, in the 17th century, as Giddy Bridge", which seems to be only half an explanation. There are entries in the local Church Leet records showing that there was once a bridge, variously known as Giddys or Giddies bridge, and that there were complaints as early as 1616 that it had been removed. |
