Text Appearing Before Image:
Innisfalien Greenhouses, Springfield, Ohio. 41 JUBILEE.—Intense scarlet of the richest shade; flowers much larger than any other scarlet introduced 8o far; borne on long, straight stems, averaging 18 inches in length; calyx very strong, never bursts. It is a very free bloomer. KITTIE CLOVER.—Fine canary yellow; the finest of all yellow varieties, and very fragrant. MRS. FISHER.—A fine constant blooming, pure white var- iety ; clove-scented: large, full flowers; very handsome. METEOR.—Deep brilliant scarlet, 2^ to 3 inches on firm, strong stem 14 to 18 inches long. Plant a free, vigorous grower, clean foliage and good, free bloomer.
Text Appearing After Image:
MINNIE COOK.—The largest and heaviest carnation of the fancy type yet produced. It may bo regarded as a mammoth Chester Pride, A vigorous grower, good keeper. MME. DIAZ ALBERTINI.—A persistent, free blooming variety of exceptional size. Flowers very large, round and full. Color light flesh pink, with a strong clove fragrance. NEW JERSEY.—Fine crimson scarlet, double and of de- lightful fragrance. PSYCHE.—White flaked scarlet, flower of extra size but not crowded with petals, long stiff stem, a very profuse bloomer; may be described as an improved and easily man- aged Helen Keller—bringing a much greater number of blooms to the plant, grass medium size and weight, perfectly clean and healthy. This is a great pro- ducer of flowers. PORTIA.—A new and valuable addi- tion to the list of Carnations. Flowers of a brilliant scarlet, and remarkably sweet-scented; on this account the flowers are always in great demand. Plant a strong grower of bushy habit. RICHMOND.—A very strong, vigorous grower, with heavy foliage, blooming from November till July, stems strong and extra good length, leaves beauti- fully curved. The flower is very large of extra good build, and of brilliant car- mine, color. The blooms should not be cut too early. The buds open very readily, and the flower keeps on grow- ing from four to five days before fully developed. ROSE QUEEN—Color soft, pure rose, so much admired by cut flower pur- chasers ; flowers large and well-formed. It is a very healthy and clear growing variety, in habit of growth, freedom of blooming and taking color. This Car- nation will prove satisfactory to every- body. SWEET BRIAR.—Pink, between Day- break and Grace Wilder in shade, a strong, healthy grower; an early free and continuous bloomer, flowers fra- grant, of good size aud form, and borne on long, stiff stems. SILVER SPRAY.—This we consider, taking all its characteristics into consid- eration, the finest white, and the purest white Carnation we know of. Of strong, robust habit, dwarf, compact growth, a very profuse bloomer, flowers pro- duced on long stems, very large and well formed. THOMAS CARTLEDGE. —A beautiful carmine. ' It is a vigorous grower, early to come in flower and extremely pro- liflc. WHITE CLOUD.—Strong growth, free blooming from early to late, long stems, large fragrant flowers of a full pleasing form without bursting, and of good substance, make it a most desirable ac- quisition to the rather small list of good white varieties.
