| Description |
English: The Gateway, Basing House, Old Basing, Hampshire Basing House, (formerly Basing Castle) was the seat of the Royalist Paulet family and was besieged for three years during the Civil War by the Parliamentary forces under Cromwell. Afterwards there was not a lot left, but this gateway is original. The ruins are open to the public in summer from Wednesday to Sunday each week. |
