e were prizes forthe best Carludovica, the best Cyanophyllum.the best Philodendron, the best Maranta, thebest Washingtonia. the best Sabal, the bestZamia, classes which would not be likely to drawa single entry at an English show. Anthurium Scherzerianum was represented bywell-dowered examples in plenty of variety, but mast striking was a large group of beautifulexamples of Adiantum Glory of Moordrecht,shown by M. Eugene Draps, Brussels. Thereis surely a place for this among market Ferns, as-it is easily grown into elegant little specimensof a character likely to bo useful in floral decora-tions. Among flowering stove plants the mostnumerously shown were Clivia miniata, afavourite with Belgian nurserymen; Eucliarisgrandirlora; and, of course, Anthuriums. Wemissed the collections of Vriesias, Tillandsiasand Bilbergias, which at former quinquennialswere a feature, thanks mainly to the Frenchspecialists. We did not see a single new stove-flowering plant, such as of yore Messrs. Sander-,.

Objectionmight reasonably be made to made-up tub speci-mens of Dendrobiums, Renanthera Imschootianaand other Orchids which are not suitable for thepurpose. The Palm that predominated in the mixedgroups, as well as in those composed solely of it,was Phoenix Rcebelinii. Among the many Palmsintroduced into gardens within the last twentyfive years this Phoenix is the only one that hasproved its worth for decorative use. It is effec-tive when only a baby 6 inches or so high, andfrom this size to the largest grown, which are8 feet high and about 5 feet through, it is ele-gant and altogether pleasing.
