This event brought the public functionsto a close, and the next two or three days werespent in visiting some of the more notable horti-cultural establishments in Belgium. The exhibition was held in the Casino build-ings, and in a large annexe or temporary buildingsimilar to that used five years ago. The Orchidswere contained in an oblong building with squarecorners. The flat glass roof was screened with art Liverpool. The collections of Anthuriums,Oranges, Clianthus Dampieri, hardwood green-house-flowering plants, and various other species,also afforded striking instances of successfulcultivation. During thewhole of these proceedings, and the remainderof the afternoon, snow fell in great quantities. On Sunday morning the jurors were invited toa reception by the Chambre Syndicale des Horti-eulteurs, and were welcomed by the President,M. O. Bktjneel. At 0 oclock in the afternoonthe Societe Boyale dAgricultureetdeBotaniquede Gand entertained the jurors at a magnificentand sumptuous banqutt in the hall of the GrandThtatie, in the presence of the Minister ofAgriculture, and other distinguished repre-sentatives. Lord Bedesdale and the Englishcontingent was again received with the greatest muslin of shades of green and pink colours. Thewalls were of a neutral tint, being of a dull,bronzy-green colour, and six feet deep above thestages were wholly covered with mirrors, so thatall the Orchids could be seen duplicated, and theeffect was very noteworthy.
