Mr. Akers-Douqlas.—It is not a concession, because theprivilege is grauted already. A Chrysanthemum as Grown in Japan.— Our illustration (fig. 85) represents an example ofJapanese culture which would not be readily excelledby our best cultivators of the Chrysanthemum. Inform it does not appear to differ from those we areaccustomed to observe at the big November showsin this country, although in Bize and in the numberof the flowers it greatly exceeds them. The Floral Committee.—The subjoinedletter raises a question which has often been mooted, but never been satisfactorily arranged. No betteror more impartial tribunal could be found to adjudi-cate upon florists flowers, flowers of a purely decora-tive character, and flowers wherein commercialconsiderations are directly involved, than the FloralCommittee. It is otherwise with new, or compara-tively new plants, or old plants of botanical interestnot yet widely distributed in commerce, or amongamateurs. These receive but scanty attention outhe part of the committee, or perhaps may be passedove
