Since thereceipt of this letter, and as the result of severalletters I have written to ladies and gentlemen in-terested in the subject, I am pleased to state thatnearly £1000 has been promised. September 28, 1895.) THE GARDENERS CHRONICLE, 365 resident at Earley, near that town. The visitors,with Mr. Willouqhby, arrived at Reading about10 a.m. on Wednesday, and were received at theG.W.R. station by the Hon. Eustace Fiennes, Mr.M. H. Sutton (the venerable founder of the firm), Mr.Martin John Sutton and Mr. A. W. Sutton, Mrs.A. W. Sutton, and other members of the famiiy, andwere driven to the business premises in the MarketPlace. Here they signed the visitors book in theusual form, writing their names very clearly inEnglish characters. The visitors were conductedover the various departments, and they alsoattended the usual 10.30 religious service in themeeting-room on the premises. After a tour of theMarket Place, the party were driven to the variousnurseries and trial-grounds of Messrs. Sutton in theneighbourhood of the town.
