| Description |
English: The Forth Road Bridge This is a picture of the recently refurbished toll plaza which is situated on the south side of the bridge. In 1964,when the bridge was opened, tolls were collected on both carriageways but as the volume of traffic increased it was felt that collecting tolls in only one direction would help to ease the congestion, so in 1997 the tollbooths on the southbound carriageway were removed, the tolls were doubled and collected on the northbound carriageway. The toll for a car today is £1. |
