GAEDENING FOR THE MONTH. About the middle and end of the monthfull crops of celery, celeriac, and endiveare to be planted. Early in the monthFrench beans should be sown, and in thelast week late crops of broccoli, colewort,and cauliflower. Medicinal and potherbsshould now be gathered and dried, andsuch herbs should be propagated bv slips and cuttings. Plant strawberries in potsfor forcing next winter. Prune and trainwall-trees, and destroy insects. Budding— of use in the case of many fruit trees, andthe chief means of propagating roses—isthe chief operation of the month. Hedgesand evergreens require cutting at thisseason. Take up spring bulbs. 7th Month; Never cross a bridge until you come to it. (3 J Days.
