Football, basketball and the indoor track meet each in turn gave rise to the highest excitement,at least to those who participated, and in view of the fact that several promisingprospects for future varsity teams came to light, it might be well to say that thepresent season has thus far been very successful. The Frosh, it is believed by those who are deemed competent to judge,have the best chance of landing on top for the cup honors, for they have alreadywon the football and basket ball championships and placed second in the trackmeet. The Seniors, however, see rays of hope IF they win in baseball and tennis.The mighty Juniors having won a place on the cup last year, have been truesports (as will be seen below) and have given some one else a chance. 86 THE FORESTER—iqi? Womens Athletics The cry Ground sticks! Ground sticks. which started the second annualSophomore-Freshman hockey was also the official opening of the peppiest yearin womens athletics ever known in Lake Forest College. The girls have putmore time, enthusiasm and good sportsmanlike spirit into their work and gamesthen ever before. They have really used the gymnasium and received a great dealof help and pleasure from it. Loyalty to class and Alma Mater certainly is notlacking in Lois Durand Hall. The last hockey game came off November 22, and the girls played the gamefrom start to finish. It certainly showed how hard they had worked to strengthentheir teams. The Freshmen played a splendid defense, and although the ball wasalmost always in their territory, the Sophomores succeeded in making only fivegoals. The final score was 5 to o in favor of the Sophomores. The same spirit continued through the basket ball games, which were snappyand hard fought. They showed with
