Summary

[edit]
Description
English: The Fish and Anchor Crossing This location gets its name from the fact that there is a ford across the River Avon at this point.

The white gable end on the left hand side of the photograph is the Fish and Anchor Public House.

To its right is the natural course of the River Avon and further right the locks created to allow passage of narrow boats avoiding the weir. This can be seen as the 'white water' to the right of the public House where the river comes into view.

It is at that point that the 'crossing' exists. There are photographs of a man walking across the river at this point in the early 20th century.
