Very fewhouses are to be found with pens more than12 feet depp. There are a few 14. 15, andeven 16. and some as narrow as 10, but 12seems to be about the desired mean. For width of the pens six feet is too littleexcept for short and stnall pens for a very few-birds or for bantams. Pens of the dimen-sions stated,0x18 ft., are very badly propor-tioned
