Description
English: This pic was clicked in the Eravikulam National Park located in Munnar, Kerala. These animals are called the Nilgiri Tahrs, an endangered species of ibex which are found only in this protected area. These animals are adept in climbing and easily moving along the mountain slopes for grazing on the grass and plants growing on the slopes. The highest mountain peak in South India, Ana malai is located in this protected area. 'Ana' means Elephant therefore Ana malai means Elephant mountain. The name given to the peak in dedication to the herds of elephants found in these regions.
