Summary
[edit]DescriptionThe Daffodil Way crosses the gas pipeline - geograph.org.uk - 770891.jpg |
English: The Daffodil Way crosses the gas pipeline. Looking north-east from the public footpath with the outskirts of Kempley Green on the hill to the right and Lower House Farm on the left. Underground here is the Milford Haven to Tirley gas pipeline, built in 2007 to bring natural gas in from South Africa to replace our dwindling North Sea supplies (and cut down our dependency on the Russians). There was a lot of fuss about digging up the countryside, but as can be seen a few months after laying the pipeline, hardly any trace remains. The main clues are the new fencing and saplings in hedge gaps - bottom left of this field, and a couple in the field left of the houses on the hill. See 436901 from before the pipe-laying, which is the same view in reverse from near the houses. The farmers around here are happy and have a three-year guarantee period for reparations on low crop yield, subsidence, etc.
