Summary
[edit]DescriptionThe DOST-PAGASA Guiuan Weather Station in 2022.jpg |
English: The DOST-PAGASA Guiuan Weather Station in January 2022.
Located atop a seaside hill approx. 60 above sea level in Barangay Sapao, Guiuan, Eastern Samar, Philippines, the DOST-PAGASA Guiuan Weather Station is popular among locals for its Doppler Radar Tower (right), its most conspicuous structure which gave the station its local nickname "Radar". The weather station, operating under the Philippine state weather agency PAGASA, also has a scenic view of the Philippine Sea (Pacific Ocean) and of the adjacent localities in Guiuan. The DOST-PAGASA Guiuan Weather Station was built and renovated with the aid of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), and it once suffered heavy damage due to Super Typhoon Haiyan (Yolanda) back in November 2013. |
