Summary

[edit]
Description
English: The Curragh racecourse siding (1). See 334714. The Dublin - Cork line had reached The Curragh by 1846. In 1856 a short branch, of 38 chains, opened to serve the nearby racecourse. It closed in 1977 following re-signalling but remained in situ. This is the view of the closed siding, towards the erstwhile junction, as a down container train passes on the main line. The junction was between Newbridge and Kildare just south of The Curragh station. Continue to 1158120.
