ith many interesting illustrations concerningevents in all parts of the island. Cocoanuts in Cuba. M. T. Home gives a fine description of tlie disease that is nowattacking the cocoanut trees of Cuba and seriously injuring the industry. Whatthe Cuban Agricultural Department is doing to stamp out the disease and theprospect of success is all told. Future articles will give further information. Agricultural matters receive attention and illustrations given showing the membersof the staff of the Cuban Agricultural Station at Santiago de las Vegas. In addition,there are various items of interest. Willett & Grays Review of the Sugar Market, printed in both English and Spanish. The illustrations this month will be found particularly interesting. Next month weshall print a valuable article on pineapples by Prof. Austin of the Cuban Agri-cultural Station, which, like the article on oranges in the September issue, willgive full information regarding culture and picking, grading and packing.

Later, a private dispatch fromCienfuegos hinted of agitation, but thatwas all. Reports from Camaguey saidthere was much cattle stealing in thatprovince, which is an old story. In brief,there is a not unusual unrest throughoutthe island, but not so much as these dif-ferent reports woyld seem to indicate.Governor Magoon has partly succeeded inarousing a friendly feeling among thelaboring classes towards the administra-tion. He indirectly secured to workers inmany lines, the payment of wages inAmerican currency, openly advocated theuse of this medium all over the island,and gave remunerative employment to thou-sands in the dull season just precedin
