A sandy beach once existed close by before the land was reclaimed. Over the years, <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nicoll_Highway" rel="nofollow">Nicoll Highway</a> and later <a href="http://www.marinasquare.com.sg/" rel="nofollow">Marina Square</a> and <a href="http://www.sunteccity.com.sg/" rel="nofollow">Suntec City</a> (on the left bg) were built on the reclaimed land, pushing Beach Road even further inland. The tallest building on the foreground is <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Concourse" rel="nofollow">The Concourse</a>. Shot from a HDB block at the starting point of Beach Road (opp <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Golden_Mile_Complex" rel="nofollow">Golden Mile Complex</a>)
