Notes | The Commissioner's House at the Royal Naval Dockyard on Ireland Island, Bermuda, was originally the residence of the Commissioner of the dockyard. After that position was abolished, the building was used alternately by the Admiralty and the War Department as a barracks, ordnance depot, wireless station and for other uses. In 1957, after the dockyard had been reduced to a naval station in 1951, the Commissioner's House was among the Admiralty and War Office properties transferred to the civil government of the colony, which leased it to the charitable organisation that created the Bermuda Maritime Museum (now part of the National Museum of Bermuda). | |||||
