В коллекции представлены фотографии различной тематики. В ней отображены достижения Бразилии и бразильцев в XIX веке, в нее также включены многочисленные фотографии из Европы, Африки и Северной Америки. На данной фотографии, сделанной фотографом-пейзажистом Джорджем Лейцингером (1813-1892 гг.), изображены горы, окружающие южную часть Рио-де-Жанейро — Лагоа Родригу-ди-Фрейтас — и район Бутафогу. Снимок был сделан из уголка леса Тижука, известного под названием Китайский вид. Тропический лес Тижука — засаженный вручную лес в центре Рио-де-Жанейро — является самым большим городским лесом в мире.

Cette collection couvre une vaste gamme de sujets. Elle documente les réalisations du Brésil et du peuple brésilien au 19e siècle, et comprend également de nombreuses photographies d'Europe, d'Afrique et d'Amérique du nord. Cette photographie de la forêt de Tijuca, prise par le photographe de paysages George Leuzinger (1813-92), montre les montagnes situées autour de la partie sud de Rio de Janeiro, le Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas, et le quartier de Botafogo. The collection covers a wide variety of subjects. It documents the achievements of Brazil and Brazilians in the 19th century and also includes many photographs of Europe, Africa, and North America. This photograph of the Tijuca Forest by landscape photographer George Leuzinger (1813-92) shows the mountains around the southern part of Rio de Janeiro, the Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas, and the Botafogo neighborhood. The photograph was taken from the Chinese View, inside the forest itself. The hand-planted Tijuca Forest, located in the center of Rio, is the world’s largest urban forest.
