Summary
[edit]DescriptionThe Cefn Du Quarries - geograph.org.uk - 229149.jpg |
English: The Cefn Du Quarries. Several quarries, in a contiguous line up the slope of Cefn Du, were worked from the early 19thC onwards. All however had closed by 1939 when a number were taken over by the M.O.D., firstly for bomb storage, and then, after WWII, for the disposal of bombs, which were exploded in the pits. These explosions continued daily for the best part of 10 years and could be heard over a wide area. |
