English: Kenneth Warren (right), 288th Signal Company, and a native of Daytona Beach, Fla., receives a gold medal from Teina J. Tahauri (right), Morale Welfare Recreation Aquatics Center Lead, and Hesteria, Calif., native, for winning the Catalina Channel 21 Mile Swim challenge for male 40-49 age group in the shortest amount of time here Sept. 21. During the challenge participants had to swim a total of 806 laps in the pool. The challenge started Aug. 24. As of Sept. 21, all of the participants combined swam a total of 82,001 laps, which is 2,137 miles, and a total of 102 Catalina Channel trips. The event held this year, hosted by Morale, Recreation and Welfare, awarded more than 20 top participants with medals. |
