Summary

[edit]
Description
English: The Buchan Burn and the Minnigaff Hills The burn takes its name from the Buchan farm further downstream, the name of which may originate from the Gaelic 'bothan' - a hut or cottage. An alternative theory however, notes that the whole area around Glentrool was once called the Forest of Buchan and was reputed to be the hunting ground of the Comyns, who were the mediaeval Earls of Buchan (the district between the Spey and the Dee in the northeast of the country), and it is possible that the name is a reflection of this ancient association.
