especially the thumb-nails, where some six distinct bands werenoticeable. There were no bands on the toe-nails, nor anythingpeculiar about the hair. The teeth were all removed when she was21 for caries. The nails were smooth on the surface and otherwise did not showany change in their structure at the present time, though at one timethey wei*e affected by psoriasis. The patient stated the bands always VON Recklinghausens disease. 239 appeared at the base of the nail and gradually grew up to the free€iid. Her mothers mother had similar bands, and several other inembersof her family were likewise affected, the family being known by theirpeculiar nails. The patients daughter is stated to occasionally havesmall white bands on her nails. At the present time they aie onlymarked by white spots.
