Summary
[edit]DescriptionThe Boy Martyr (Sandys).png |
English: This woodcut illustrated a poem of the same title by Walter Thornbury ( 'Once a Week magazine, volume 7, page 602) in which a young Christian martyr living in the time of Nero successfully defeats a powerful opponent. Because the Christian refuses to relinquish his faith, Emperor Nero orders the lions to be released into the arena. The Christian is killed but goes to paradise. |
