as taken; but are obliged entirely to Mr. Herbert forwhat we have to say of the plant. Root perennial; stem suffrutescent, giowing to aboutthree yards in height. Leaves sessile, about an inch and ahalf long or upwards, decrescent, scarcely the third of aninch broad, enclosing the branch between the lobes at theirbase. Peduncles solitary, somewhat shorter than the leaf,slender upright, one flowered, rarely 2 or 3-flowered (sub-villous ?) Bractes two, small, opposite, lanceolate, placed alittle above the middle of the peduncle. Flowers straw-coloured, yellower at the plaits of the limb; tube crimsonon the inside; limh about ; of an inch across: stigma green-ish : anthers cream-coloured. Cultivated in the stove, where it flowers from Juneto November, and ripens its seeds, which are of a pale browncolour, and about the size and shape of those of Ipomceacoccinea. The ends of the branches are clipped in thewinter, by which more abundant and stronger shootsare produced in the ensuing summer.
