Flowers vnXh us from August to Septem-ber. Cultivated in 1596 by Mr. John Gerarde. Stems several^ upright or aseendently slanted at thebase, from half a foot to two feet high, rough, villous,round, somewhat fluted, generally branching above themiddle, and sometimes for the whole length. Leavesobovately lanceolate, flat, rough, slightly \dllous at theedge, entire, the lowermost stem-ones and all the root-onespetioled, the others sessile. Calyx green, leaflets oblong, VOL. IV.
