Thus the childrens prideis not hurt, there being no differencebetween the one who pays and the onewho does not. The meal lasts three-fourths of anhour. Two of the older children areappointed to watch over the youngerand see that they all secure their food.One of the masters also superintendsthe meals. The weekly bill of fare hasbeen arranged as follows: Monday: Cabbage soup, sausageand beans. Tuesday: Bean soup, stew, jam Wednesday: Meat soup, rice, pie. Thursday: No school takes place. Friday: Vegetable soup, codfish, rice. Saturday: Meat soup, sausages, orblood pudding, beans. In addition each child receives half apint of wine mixed with water.
