Summary
[edit]DescriptionThe Borg - geograph.org.uk - 594675.jpg |
English: The Borg The remains of a broch, called The Borg, can be seen east of the A897, above the river valley. Brochs are dry stone hollow-walled structures dated to the Iron Age. Only found in Scotland, these stone structures include some of the most sophisticated examples of dry stone architecture. Their often close groupings and sheer numbers in many areas suggests that they had a primarily defensive or even offensive function. The origin of brochs is a subject of continuing research.
