English: The Black Man at the Institute Statue of Sir William Pearce looking onto the Pearce Institute. Sir William became Govan's first MP. The Pearce institute was donated to the people of Govan as a community centre by Sir William's widow Lady Dinah in 1906, 18 years after Sir Williams death.
