Description The Bell Diamond mining head frame, popularly known as a "Gallus Frame" in Butte, is one of the most photographed icons of the "The Richest Hill on Earth". It now remains as a sentinel overlooking the ravages of over 100 years of mining. This picture is takes with the Granite Mountain Memorial at my back. The Granite Mountain and Speculator mining disaster in 1917 in which 164 miners perished. The incident indirectly lead to a showdown between the Giant Anaconda Copper Mining Company, the established Western Federation of Miners Union, and the International Workers of the World (Woblies)
