It is well known that the confire-gations always fill the place on Sundays when Mr..Spurgeon preaches. AVhen the church took pos-session of the Talternacic there were 1 178 memberson the roll ; there are now upwards of 5500. Mr.Spurgeons frequent attacks of illness, and thegreat increase of the membership, led the church,in 1868, to ap()oint liis brother, the Rev.
