The site for the new hotel, to supplantthe historical Sentinel, will be in themeadows back of the Sentinel, so locatedas to give a commanding view of theprincipal falls, half dome. Glacier Point,and other major attractions of the scenicpark. The $40,000 Glacier Point hotel will bebuilt on a lofty site near the old struc-ture, but located so as to give a betterview of the marvels in the valley below.Features will be a sunrise balcony, at theeast, and a sunset balcony at the west,both of which will be commodious insize. Chalets costing $12,000 each are beingbuilt at Tenaya Lake, Lake Merced andTuolumne Soda Springs. Plans for thesebuildings were prepared by Edward J.Svmmes. LOOK through the advertising pageseach month. Make it a point to send forsome of the printed matter offered bymanufacturers and building materialhouses. And when you are writing orphoning for a contractor or material manto call and figure tell him you saw hiscard in The Architect and Engineer.

Lighting the Liberty Bell. ^\hen the Liberty Bell was beingbrought back from the Panama-PacificInternational Exposition, arrangemeniwas made for a short stop over at Schen-ectady, X. Y. In order to allow as much time as pos-sible for the people to see this historicrelic, all of the lighting arrangementswere made beforehand. The car wasshifted into the freight yard, about 700feet from the street. It was thereforenecessary to furnish some additional gen-eral illumination, as well as that uponthe bell, so that it would stand outstrongly and be seen from a distance.This was done by mounting two G. E.flood lighting projectors on a box caropposite the place where it had been pre-arranged to have the Liberty Bell carplaced. This box car was about 40 feetfrom the bell. One flood lighting pro-jector was used to throw the light onthe bell, while the other was used forgeneral illumination purposes.
