Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Looking north out to sea through the Arch in Jamestown Saint Helena in March 2020. The arch was built in 1832 as a gate in the fortified wall protecting the town from sea attack. It is painted yellow and has a high-water mark from a flood in April 1878. There is a painted image of a wirebird above the arch, and botanical symbols on the side columns. The columns are topped by piles of cannonballs
