Summary

[edit]
Description
English: The Arch at Penbwlchbodcoll, 3 km from Cwmystwyth, Ceredigion/Sir Ceredigion, Great Britain. – The arch next to the B4574 road was built on the instructions of a local landowner, Thomas Johnes of the Hafod estate, in 1810 to celebrate the Golden Jubilee of King George III at the height of this king's national popularity, which sadly coincided with his near blindness, decline into ill-health and mental illness resulting in the Regency by 1811 and the seclusion of George III until his death in 1820. What momentous years this arch commemorates. The pass, in Welsh is named "the pass of the loss of existence".
