English: The annual Black-Necked Crane festival is celebrated at the courtyard of Gangtey Goenpa in Phobjikha valley on 11th November- which is the birth anniversary of Bhutan's fourth king. It is organized to generate awareness and understanding on the importance of conserving the endangered Black-Necked Cranes.The festival is held for the locals to rejoice and celebrate the arrival of this endangered and majestic bird which becomes an inseparable part of Bhutanese culture. Various cultural programs such as folk songs, dances and mask dances are performed by the local people. Crane dances and environmental conservation-themed dramas and songs by school children is the spectacular part of the festival. This is a great way to show love & gratitude towards the nature through nation's culture which Bhutanese people have adopted.
