English: The Anderton Boat Lift (2) This shows the lift itself and the aqueduct connecting its top level to the Trent and Mersey Canal. This photograph dates from 1979, before the long period of closure. At that time, the two caissons counterbalanced each other, and here the nearer caisson is at the lower (River Weaver) level, with the further Caisson at the top. |
