n the severest cases the infec-tion-carriers go through the finest lymph-spaces between the tissue-elements.In less rapid cases they generally follow the larger lymph-vessels. From thewall of the lymph-vessels they enter the surrounding tissue, causing necrosis.The lvmphatic form often starts from injuries of the cervix. In septic peri-tonitis the infection is not propagated through the Fallopian tubes, but ittakes place through the lymphatics of the walls of the uterus. In the thrombo-phlebitir firm of general infection the endometrium is likethat of localized endometritis, the germs, according to Bumm, never enteringthe laver of granulation tissue filled with leucocytes except at the placentalsite. Here the veins have not been closed by collapse and apposition of theirWalls—the normal process—but are plugged with thrombi.
