Text Appearing After Image:
SPECIAL METHODS OF STUDY Plates Made at Full Expiration. Incertain cases of very slight peribronchialinvolvement, the pulmonary markingsmay be so slight that pleural surfaces arenot outlined even though considerableseparation is present, as the density ofthe lung tissue is not very different fromthat of the air pocket. In such cases platesmade at full expiration will sometimesshow the pleural surfaces distinctly, owingto the greater comparative density ofthe lung tissue. Remaking Plates. Often unforseen den-sities or unexpectedly clear lungs causethe plates made by any routine to beunsatisfactory. In such cases a second pairmay be made with longer or shorterexposures as may be indicated by thefirst pair. Unilateral Lesions. Of patients withdense involvement on one side and verylittle on the other, the same pair of platescannot satisfactorily show both sides ofthe chest. In such cases the best diagnosticwork sometimes requires one pair of platesfor each lung with the appropriateexposur
