Herbert Threlkeld-Edwards, M.D. the medical department of the Universityof Pennsylvania, where he was graduatedin the class of 1892. After serving his internship at St. Luke sHospital, this city, Dr. Edwards becamedemonstrator of pathology at the Univer-sity of Pennsylvania, remaining as amember of the faculty for two years. He then returned to Bethlehem, wherehe engaged in extensive professionalendeavor for many years. Notwithstanding the heavj responsibilities incident to liispractice, Dr. Edwards retained his habitsof study and scientific research, anddeveloped the first American IntensifyingScreen. Of recent years he was activelyengaged in the manufacture of this screen. He devoted special study to roentgenol-ogy, in which he was a pioneer in thissection. Under his direction the modernx-ray laboratory at St. Lukes Hospital wasfounded, and he was the first director there.
