r fall, striking directly on the greater tro-chanter of the right femur. He sufferedconsiderable pain and it was with difficultyhe was able to walk to his home. He did notcomplain during the following few days,though he says he felt quite sore; and hismother insists that for several weeks follow-ing the accident he had a decided limp.For several weeks he was under the care ofa physician, and on January 13, 1921, hewas x-rayed by Drs. Hickey and Evans.The report follows. Plate made of the pelvis shows normal with enlargement of the superficial veins.Motion in all directions was restrictedand painful. On aspiration of the tumor by the sur-geon, a few drops of turbid fluid wereobtained, which, on microscopic examina-tion, revealed no information. Roentgen-ray examination of the pelvisshowed the left hip and trochanter normal.The epiphysis for the trochanter on theright side showed a definite area ofbone destruction on the superior and exter-nal aspects, extending down to the external r .
