aced, lungs that are short andbroad at the bases and narrow in theiipper lobes, a digestive system high in theabdomen and of quite marked tonus. Thestomach is small, usually of the steer-horntype and transversely placed. Peristalsisand motility are fairly rapid. The emptyingtime of this type of stomach is from threeto three and one-half hours and corre-sponds to Schlesingers classification ofhypertonus. Very little of the small intestine is seenin the pelvic basin and the cecum is well Group II, or Sthenic Habitus. — Thephysical qualities of this group are verysimilar to those of the preceding group, but with visceral characteristics tendingtoward the ptotic types. Physically, thethorax is longer and less broad and deep, the intercostal angle somewhat more acuteand the abdomen is shorter. Roentgenologically, we see aheart thatdoes not diiifer greatly from Group I, butis somewhat more vertical. The lungs arelonger and the difiference between theupper lobes and the bases is less marked.

The colonicflexures are quite high, particularly thesplenic flexure, which is frequently on alevel with the fundus of the stomach. Tlietransverse colon as it passes across theabdomen is most fretiuently above or ona level with the innl)ilicus and rarely morethan an inili 1)elo\v that point. The haustraare small and numerous. The descendingcolon passes down the left side in a longsweep to the pelvis, and the sigmoid in themajority of cases is short. Twenty-fonrhour colon residue in this type is usuallysmall and not infrequently the motor mealhas entirely left the system at that period. The digestive plant is lower in the abdomenand of a different form. The stomach, whilefrequently of the tubular type, at timesmay be of the bulbous or fish-hook forms, and is more vertically placed with thelesser curvature varying from about oneinch aljovc to about
