igi2. The American Florist, 895 THE EXHIBITIONS. Lenox Horticultural Society's Fall Show. The first exhiliition of the fall sea- son opened in the town hall at Lenox, Mass.. on October 24. The exhibition was held by the Lenox Horticultural Society and was well arranged. The groups on the main floor occupied the premier position, the intervening space being used to display the large vases of chrysanthemums. Orchids, roses arid carnations filled the right table, short- stemmed specimen chrysanthemum blooms the left. Flowering plants were on the stage, and vegetables and fruits upstairs. The judges were Wm. Kleinheinz, Ogontz, Pa., Thomas Lo- gan. Philadelphia, Pa., Jas. Stewart, Mamaroneck, N. Y., and A. E. Thatcher, Bar Harbor, Me. The competition be- ing very keen in the iinportant classes, the judges found many problems in awarding decisions but gave general satisfaction. The groups were very pleasing and artistic. Fred Heeremans, superintendent for W. D. Sloane, won the Breck silver cup with an effective and harmonious arrangement consist- ing of a central column and three side mounds of Phoenix Roebelenii, Bego- nia Gloire de Lorraine and Lilium Gi- ganteum. The panels were filled with specimen crotons, lily of the valley and Farleyense ferns. Second prize went to Allen Jenkins, superintendent to S. P. Shotter. The third prize was received by Ed. Jenkins, superintend- ent to Girard Foster. The Boddington prize group was easily won by A. J. Loveless, superintendent to Mrs. Gris- wold. The other orchid prizes were shared by A. H. Wingate, superintend- ent to Chas. Lanier, E. J. Norman, su- perintendent to Mrs. Westinghouse, and P. J. Donohue, superintendent to Mrs. Jessup.
