ganized Camera Club, by joining samehe will not only secure the acquaintance of a large number ofsportsmen like himself, but will also secure the advantages ofa club room, with all the latest photographic books and maga-zines, and also the benefit of complete work, dark and enlarg-ing room and possibly a studio, to say nothing of the oppor-tunity to compete in the annual exhibition usually held by suchclubs from which an immense amount of pleasure and profitcan be secured. Such a club is, of course, first choice, but we do not all livein or near large ckies capable of supporting such a club, solet us see what the next best club would be. Several years ago the writer helped to form a club in hishome town which proved to be the source of much pleasureand benefit to its members. I was acquainted with severalother parties in town who were interested in amateur photog-raphy. One evening we got together and decided to form whatwe called a Social Camera Club, and to hold meetings in each i8o

<o < < i8i others homes and inviting our friends who were interested incamera work to come and bring samples of their work. We soon had eight or ten congenial camera fiends lookingforward to our monthly meetings at which the pictures takenat our outings were submitted for inspection and criticism. Wealso arranged special competition on a chosen subject, everymember to submit one or more photos at the next meeting. Infact, we derived a vast amount of pleasure and benefit fromour mutual co-operation. I will say that this Club is still inexistence and, although the writer is many hundreds of milesaway, he still receives an occasional post card taken on one ofthe Clubs outings. This is the kind of a club that can beformed by a few energetic spirits in any small place and, be-lieve me, its members will never regret having formed it. Now, we come to the isolated worker who lives in thecountry, or in a place where there are no other enthusiasticamateurs to co-operate with. F
