e. Here white clothes were helped by the pencil on the eyes and the mouth and yet it is not evident. Smiling Dan shows just the opposite of Wonder Eyes. The background is black, ruggedness is expressed, the blacks are rich, the features show the modeling strongly, the texture of the coat and cap stand out, yet the same paper, de-veloper and manipulation was used in both cases. Where Clouds and Water Meet is a snapshot made some-where near Jamaica, W. L I know that I am not a pictorial-ist, and yet the enlargement from this little negative gives a beautiful print, the clouds have a beautiful rich and luminousquality that I did not get from the same negative on other gas-light papers. Wonders never cease with this paper. If you want en-larged negatives to use for broad effects in working in Gum,etc.. you can make negatives on this paper that will give youthe pictorial qualities that you get with the soft focus lens. If you are looking for the artistic I conclude with Runand get Artatone. 156
