** Figure 4. Again, when going along a country wayside I often see anattractive cluster of wild flowers, a birds nest, a peculiar geo-logical formation, all hobbies of mine. Sometimes an unusual-ly good landscape. It only takes a few minutes to stop, set upand take any of these views. This is where the pleasure comesin; these are taken for my own enjoyment, yet, at some latertime, some one is sure to ask me for a photograph of a wildflower or some other nature subject, then, its business. Last year I made a trip by automobile to the Catskill moun-tains for a little vacation. Of course, I could not resist taking 210

This consisted of an 8 x lo, a 5 x 7 and a4^ X 6 c.c. lea, 14 lenses and plenty of plates for all sizes.Owing to the September haze I was unable to get the mountainviews I expected to and, cutting short my stay, I started home.On the way back I passed through New Paltz, N. Y., quitelate in the day and decided to stop over night. My cousin, whomade the trip with me, had an old school chum of hers livingthere whom we looked up. Of course, we had to stay therewhen they learned we intended staying over night in town. After supper her husband asked me if I cared to take a walkand see the town. After an hours walk I was informed I hadseen all the sights worth seeing. It was getting quite darkand reaching a cross street it was suggested we return to thehouse. I asked what lay ahead of us and was told that it wasthe old part of the town consisting of a lot of old and dilapi-dated houses not worth seeing.
