COOKE. 67 It is unfortunate that the various features that seem to bemost desirable in a vest-pocket camera do not appear to beembodied in any one particular camera on the market. Most of the best cameras open on the lazy tongs principlewhich gives admirable rigidity to the front. When closed thelens and camera front should be protected and should have noprojections. This enables it to be slipped in the pocket with-out a case and without risks. The ground glass too shouldbe protected by a collapsible focusing hood. The lens shouldbe of the highest possible grade, preferably working at F/4.5and of 3 inch focus. The shutter should be a compound work-ing from I sec. to 1/300 part T. and B. with the release in aposition to be worked with the least jar. The view findershould be a wire frame giving a full size image and finallythe focusing indicator should be on a system that will notdevelop the least play.
