Text Appearing Before Image:
CANON OF THE RIO DE LAS ANIMAS PERDIDAS.Southwestern Colorado. GEORGE L. BEAM. A Mosaic color screen, A special panchromatic emulsion. A special yellow filter. They differ somewhat from the above description in thatthe Paget and Dufay employ a geometric recurring pattern ofMosaic screen (Figures i and 2), while the Lumiere is ofan irregular non-recurring pattern (Figure 3).
Text Appearing After Image:
Figure i. Photomicrograph of Paget taking screen (duplicating process) red, green and blue rectangles approximately 1/500 square. Also the emulsion is coated directly over the Mosaic screeninstead of being on a separate plate, although the Pagetpeople make a duplicating process which necessitates theMosaic screen and panchromatic plate being separate. It is obvious in the latter method that the Mosaic screenmust be of a regular geometric pattern, otherwise it wouldbe practically impossible to affect the final registration. This is not necessary in the combined screen and plateprocess, for no registration is required, the negative emulsionbeing reversed to form a positive. This is accomplished byeliminating the fixing of the negative, and by placing the plateafter development in a solution of bichromate or perman-ganate of potash where the exposed silver in its reduced 124 metallic form is dissolved out, leaving those portions of theplate transparent.
