HILD AND THE KODAK By HARRY GORDON WILSON HAVE always had the idea that photographyshould play an important part in the educationof the child, as through the use of the Kodakor camera children will have something to takeup their leisure time when not occupied bytheir school lessons. This may mean a little expense and patience to the parents,but they may rest assured that their time and money will bewell spent. The kodak will open up new fields of thought,unfolding the beauties of nature in its many different phases,teaching the child the love of the beautiful, educating the eyeto estimate distances, and to be able to see things that theordinary person would pass by without a moments thoughtof the picture possibilities. In my own experience I have yetto find very few people who are interested in photography whoare not good upright people, both morally and mentally. The modern photographic equipment is very simple, andany child of average intelligence should be able to master thefirst principles in a very short time. It is recommended thatthey complete all of the operations themselves, as by doingtheir own developing and printing they can discover anyerrors in the exposure. You will always be able to find oneor two older boys in the neighborhood who will undertake togive the young photographer a few first lessons.
